Stay on top of family finances need not be difficult. With a little planning, your finances can be updated with ease. Believe me, having a handle on your family budget goes a long way in creating family harmony.
The first step is to establish an accounting system. We have used Quicken for years. It helped keep track of our spending and we’ve been very satisfied with the program. It takes a little time to set up initially. The second part of your accounting system involves setting up a place to keep your receipts. We use a small file splitter box with a special slot dedicated to “revenue to be displayed. The key idea here is to have a place where you store all receipts from expenditures (including ATM withdrawals) so they are easily accessible when you fit them into your accounting software.
Once you have the system put in place, then just enter your receipts, whether income or expenditure. When you enter each item you select a category for it to enter. Reconcile your account is online.
